A 5 Step Plan You Should Actually Follow to Launch A Digital Product (Instead of Just Guessing As You Go)
Over the last 6 years, I’ve successfully launched 7 digital products.
But when I first started, my launch process was literally being made up as I was creating and marketing the product. There was no plan. This led to a ton of mistakes which cost me a lot of money, time and stress.
Then I discovered James Wedmore’s launch process that’s helped him to sell millions of dollars worth of digital products. So instead of guessing any longer, I knew I had to pay close attention and model it — and you should too.
Step1: Dream it
Dream it starts with creating some goals. What’s your top, middle and bottom goals for your launch? You need to know your numbers. So how many units of your digital product do you need to sell? How many people need to see your content to make that happen? How many emails do you need to collect as part of your pre-launch?
Step 2: Map it
Now visualise the launch plan using a tool like Lucid. Draw out all the moving pieces. So is it a pre-launch landing page to capture emails so you can then send out a free guide? Are you then running some Facebook Ads? After that is it your launch emails going out which send your subscribers to a webinar?
Step3: Book it
Overlay your launch plan onto your calendar.
- When are your different pieces of content going live?
- When are your emails going out?
- When do you start your Facebook Ads?
- When does your webinar start?
Step4: Chunk it
Now you need to break your launch down into 8–12 mini-projects.
- Build your opt-in page
- Video Series Pages
- Video creation
- Sales page
- Promotional webinars
- Pre-launch emails
- Facebook Ads
- Etc…
Make sure you are clear on the ‘Definition of Done’ and when each project has to be completed.
Step5: Do it
No explanation here. Go and do the work.
