It’s 10 times easier to sell to existing customers than it is to new customers.

But if I asked you to tell me what you’d sell next to a customer who has just purchased from you, would you know? Have you ever mapped out your different products and services? Do you have a system in place to automatically move customers from one to the next?

Existing customers want more from you. So to succeed as a Digital Entrepreneur you need to map out and visualise your ascension model.

The 5 Step Ascension Model:

But what is an Ascension Model?

It’s often called the ‘Value Ladder’ or ‘Ascension Model. It’s where you map out the different products and services customers can purchase from you as they want to get quicker results or grow their revenue faster.

To help visualise this, think of a Triangle that looks like a Pyramid. So wider at the bottom and narrow at the top.

Step 1: Free Content

Think of this at the base of the pyramid. This is where your customers first enter your world with free, but highly valuable content. This could be a podcast or a video series. Maybe a free guide.

Step 2: DIY Flagship Product

The next step on the ascension pyramid is the DIY course or Flagship product. This is usually a digital course with a complete A-Z system that teaches them something of value with a desired end result or transformation.

Step 3: Coaching

Next up we have coaching — this could be group coaching or cohort-based coaching. The best way to think about this is “How can you help a segment of your students get results quicker and easier?

Step 4: Workshops & Retreats

We’re almost at the top of the pyramid. So now we want to offer exclusive workshops or retreats. Think of Masterminds or Inner Circles with a small intimate group of passionate students where you are continuously sharing best practices and what’s working.

Step 5: Access to You

Finally, at the peak of the pyramid, we have YOU. Access to you and your valuable time is the highest and most valuable level of service you can provide. So think about ‘VIP Days’ where you spend a day or a few days with just one customer — giving them your full attention on your area of expertise, solving problems and unlocking their potential.

Now it’s time for you to map out your ascension model and generate more revenue for your business. Go build!
